Sports Medicine Specialist

Dr. Brice Blatz is double board-certified in Family Medicine and Sports Medicine and is a procedural-based practitioner with a focus on Musculoskeletal (MSK) regeneration, orthobiologic and regenerative therapies. He specializes in collaborative, individualized treatment plans to help his patients find non-surgical alternatives to relieve their pain.

Dr. Blatz holds an undergraduate degree from Northwestern University and a master’s degree in Applied Physiology from the Rosalind Franklin University of Health Sciences. He earned his M.D. from Chicago Medical School. Dr. Blatz completed his family medicine residency at the University of Nevada School of Medicine and his sports medicine fellowship at O’Connor Hospital (Stanford University Medical School Affiliated).

He also brings to RestorePDX one of his favorite new treatment options – extracorporeal shockwave therapy, or ESWT. By using two different machines to provide two distinct types of shockwaves, Dr. Blatz is able to use EWST for a wide variety of applications and combination therapy for conditions such as tendon disease and tears, neuromas, ligament tears, muscular trigger points, subchondral bone marrow edema, stress fractures, Salter-Harris abnormalities, calcific tendinosis, and arthritis, all in a completely non-invasive manner.

As an expert in ultrasound for nearly all MSK applications, Dr. Blatz’s work includes creating the MSK curriculum for the Stanford Sports Medicine Fellowship Program, training fellows on ultrasound, ultrasound-guided procedures, and orthobiologic applications.

Outside Interests

When he isn’t helping patients, you can find Dr. Blatz exploring the outdoors with his wife and two daughters, taking hikes and riding bikes during the warmer months, and hitting the slopes during the winter.
