Dr. Terrance Manning II, ND, RMSK is a specialist in interventional orthopedic and orthobiologic medicine with a focus on non-surgical treatment options for joint, tendon, and ligament conditions. Dr. Manning currently serves as the vice president of the Naturopathic Orthopedic Medicine Academy (NOMA) and is a founding member of that organization. He is also an expert in advanced techniques such as diagnostic and interventional musculoskeletal ultrasound. In addition to his services here at RestorePDX, Dr. Manning is a member of the adjunct clinical faculty at the National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM). He also hosts an off-site shift that enables him to train students in this field.

Dr. Manning’s credentials include completion of a 3-year CNME accredited post-graduate residency in interventional orthopedics and orthobiologic medicine (supervised by a medical doctor), a doctorate from the National College of Natural Medicine, advanced certification in musculoskeletal ultrasonography (RMSK), and a Master’s degree in philosophy from St John’s College-Santa Fe. He completed his undergraduate degree in biology at Western Oregon University, where he graduated with Honors and was awarded the Most Outstanding Graduate Award in Pre-Professional Biology.

Treatment Philosophy

Dr. Manning utilizes a treatment approach that combines his diagnostic expertise, state-of-the-art image-guided treatment techniques, and a deep understanding of regenerative medicine/orthobiologic medicine to provide his patients with effective improvement of their condition. Known as a leader in the field for his use of advanced diagnostic imaging systems to find and treat the cause of a patient’s pain and discomfort, Dr. Manning is committed to providing individuals with customized treatment plans and a compassionate, attentive approach to care. His dedication to the Vis Medicatrix Naturae – the “healing power of nature” – along with his extensive training, strong comprehension of human physiology, and breadth of clinical experience allow Dr. Manning to unite both conventional and natural treatment modalities together in order to provide patients with the best possible results. He uses evidence-based treatments that work with the body’s innate healing capability in order to heal injuries and reduce pain.

Other specialties/professions have the tendency to think of the body as a machine, but unlike a machine, our bodies can metabolize and repair themselves. Thus, Dr. Manning’s care philosophy and what he sees on a daily basis is that nature, not doctors, heal people. His job is to expertly facilitate this process.
